시험관 내(In vitro) 칡뿌리(Radix puerariae)에서 발견되는 이소플라본인 Puerarin (카코네인)은 5-HT2C receptor 및 벤조디아제핀 부위 길항제입니다. 이 화합물은 중국에서 심혈관 질환 치료에 임상적으로 사용됩니다. 또 다른 연구에서는 이 화학 물질이 항암 특성도 가지고 있음을 보여주었습니다. 25 μM 용량에서 Bax 증가와 c-myc 및 Bcl-2 감소와 함께 HT-29 세포 성장을 용량 의존적으로 감소시킵니다.
