Dexamethasone은 Glucocorticoid Receptor에 결합한 다음 Glucocorticoid 반응 요소에 결합합니다. Dexamethasone (10 μM)은 쥐 골수 기질 세포 배양에서 알칼리성 인산가수분해효소 오스테오폰틴, 뼈 시알로단백질, 오스테오칼신의 mRNA 발현 증가와 함께 골아세포 분화를 유도합니다. Dexamethasone (5 μM) 처리는 성체 해마 신경 전구 세포의 증식과 SRE-유도 유전자 발현을 감소시킵니다.
생체 내(In vivo)	Dexamethasone (2 mg/kg)은 수컷 Fischer F344 쥐에서 BrdU 표지된 간세포 수를 80% 감소시킵니다. Dexamethasone (2 mg/kg) 전처리는 부분 간절제술 후 TNF와 IL-6의 발현을 억제하고 수컷 Fischer F344 쥐의 간세포 증식 반응을 유의하게 감소시킵니다. Dexamethasone은 또한 2-아세틸아미노플루오렌/부분 간절제술 (AAF/PH) 프로토콜에 의해 유도된 난원형 세포의 유도 및 확장을 심각하게 감소시키지만, 담관 결찰에 의해 자극된 담관 세포의 증식에는 아무런 영향을 미치지 않습니다. Dexamethasone (100 μg/kg)은 Sprague–Dawley 쥐에서 BrdU(+) 해마 전구 세포의 59.2% 유의한 감소를 유발합니다. Dexamethasone (100 μg/kg)은 Sprague–Dawley 쥐의 과립 세포층에서 ERK 활성화를 감소시킵니다.
