Nitazoxanide는 세포 배양에서 약물 관련 세포 독성의 증거가 거의 없이 기생충 성장을 90% 이상 억제합니다. 이 화합물은 광범위한 원생동물 및 연충류에 대해 우수한 체외(in vitro) 활성을 보이는 새로운 thiazolide계 항기생충제입니다. 이 화합물과 그 대사산물인 tizoxanide는 G. intestinalis, E. histolytica 및 T. vaginalis에 대해 metronidazole보다 체외(in vitro)에서 더 강력한 활성을 나타냅니다. 이 약제는 HBV와 HCV 복제를 모두 강력하게 억제합니다. HCV 레플리콘 함유 세포에서 이 화합물과 IFN을 병용 투여한 후의 효과를 증강시키지만, 이 화학물질과 2'CmeC를 병용했을 때는 그렇지 않습니다. 이 화학물질은 2.2.15 세포에 의해 생성되는 여러 HBV 단백질(HBsAg, HBeAg, HBcAg)의 감소를 유도하지만, HBV RNA 전사에는 영향을 미치지 않습니다. 생체 내(In vivo)
